Yachts
shall berth, moor or shift berth at a yachting
centre as, where and when directed by the
Director.
The
master of a yacht shall be responsible to
ensure that the yacht is safely moored in
a proper manner at all times when berthed
or moored at a yachting centre.
In the absence of the master of a yacht,
the Director shall have the right to adjust
or alter its position or to remove it to
any other berth or mooring, at the risk
and expense of the owner of the yacht.
No yachts shall be moved from one berth
to another within a yachting centre without
the prior authorisation of the Director.
The owner and the master of a yacht shall
at all times be responsible
for the safety of the yacht and they shall
be liable in solidium for any damages caused
by the yacht to a yachting centre or its
facilities. No person shall discharge or
allow to escape any oil, garbage or other
refuse into the waters of a yachting centre.
No person shall deposit on the quay any
craft and stores, supplies or other material,
or in any way obstruct the quay or its approaches.
No person shall cause or permit any craft
to proceed at a speed in excess of five
knots within a yachting centre. Owners and
masters of yachts, in respect of which any
fees, charges or rates are due, shall notify
the Director of their intention to leave
the yachting centre not later than twenty-four
hours before the expected time of departure.
The Director shall not be liable in respect
of loss of, or damage to, any yacht, its
furniture, stores, machinery or equipment
occurring for any cause whatsoever while
it is in a yachting centre. Yachts shall
at all times be under the charge of a master
or of any other person or persons duly authorised
to assume full responsibility of the yacht.
Arrival
On approaching the Maltese Islands, contact
is to be established with Valletta Port
Control who will guide the yacht to the
visitors berth. The yachts registration
papers together with passports covering
all crew members and passengers must be
presented to Customs and Immigration officials
at the Administration Building for the necessary
pratique. Yachts may only remain on anchor
in mid-stream within the Yachting Centre
until a specific berth is allotted by the
Berthing Master who must be contacted at
the Yachting Centre Offices or on VHF channel
9.
Customs Clearance
in Gozo
During peak seasons (generally between 1
June and 30 September), yachtsmen entering
the Maltese Islands may clear customs in
Gozo from the Mgarr Marina. Visiting yachts
are advised to approach Pontoon F. Berthing
assistants will indicate location of the
Customs Office on arrival.
Before Final Departure
Before final departure from the islands,
a passenger/crew list has to be drawn up
on the appropriate form and presented to
the Customs Officer, whilst all passports
are to be submitted to the Immigration Officer.

on VHF Channels 9 and 12 (24hrs)

Weather Forecast
Transmitted daily on VHF by Valletta Radio
- Channel 12 at Summer (Local Time) 0903,
1303, 1903, 0003. Winter (Local Time) 0803,
1203, 1803, 2303. Malta Radio - Channel
4 - transmits the forecast one hour ahead
of Valletta radios schedule.

Bunkering
Duty free bunkers for yachts in transit
are available at very competitive prices.
Public Transport
All towns and villages are linked to the
capital, Valletta, by frequent bus service.
Route numbers 62, 63 and 67 pass by the
Yachting Centres.
Duty Free
Duty free stores may be obtained after the
appropriate forms are duly filled in. These
stores will be loaded on the yacht under
supervision and sealed and may not be made
use of within territorial waters.
Mail
Mail for yachts is collected in bulk and
held at the Yachting Centre Office until
collected by addressees.
Malta Radio
Malta Radio can be contacted on VHF Channel
16 (24hrs).
Time
One hour ahead of G.M.T. Summer time commences
on the last Sunday in March and lasts till
the last Sunday in October.
Shopping and Banking
Excellent shopping and banking facilities
are available around the Yachting Centres.
